| Welcome to Gorge Alpacas, our alpaca stud is situated in picturesque Arcadia,
on the outskirts of Sydney metropolitan area, just a one hour drive north
from Sydney CBD. Nestled in the hills between Galston Gorge and the Hawkesbury
River our alpacas enjoy 25ac of lush pasture. Some of our alpacas enjoy the heady heights of our farm ‘Wavertree’ at Meadow Flat some 1100 metres in altitude between Lithgow and Bathurst. Our operations commenced in 1993 with the puchase of some Chilean females, of all colours and a stud sire called Purrumbete La Mancha. Peruvian El Jefe was added to our stud sire stable importing him from the USA in 1995, offering finess and desity to levels we had rarely seen. We had a major improvement program in 1996 with the arrival of our Peruvian female base herd from the first Peruvian shipment into Australia. Our herd now consists of white and fawn alpacas bred from these females using elite quality stud sires including Jolimont Massimo, Schubert Maestro and Shanbrooke Accoyo Yavari. Always seeking new information and technology, we have integrated SRS scientific values and embryo transfer technology into our breeding program. These ideals have lead us to join with Warralinga Alpaca Stud and create an elite seed stock producing stud called Warralinga-Gorge Stud Stock using only the best genetics available.
