| Julie
and Richard Bird are the principals of Gorge Alpacas and both are involved
in many facets of the alpaca industry. Julie is an Australian Alpaca Association accredited Judge since 1995 and became internationally qualified in Peru in the year 2000, by the IAJS. These qualifications have enabled her to judge shows in Australia including the National Show 2005, as well as international shows in Canada, New Zealand and Germany. Julie has also completed the TAFE wool classing course to learn more about other fleece types. Julie is our farm manager and keeps herself busy managing and showing our alpacas. Richard presently has a career in the aviation industry, though his spare time is spent assisting Julie in the husbandry of alpacas and farm maintenance. Richard is also active in Regional and Show Support AAA committees. Our commitment to alpaca breeding over the last 13 years has seen us directly involved with many seminars and industry events.
